Notes |
The dense packing of images, texture, color, of humor and challege in the small works exerts a pull on the viewer which in the larger work becomes almost a demand. Morgan sets up a dialogue between the viewer and the artist: from "Why?" and "Why not?" to a deeper exploration risings from Morgan's allusions to the European Renaissance tradition in painting and architecture, to American folk art, AfroAmerican cultural experiences, new wave graffiti, 20th Century art movements from abstract expressionalism to post modern realism and more. Morgan's work affords the viewer great pleasure on many levels: the use of color, of imagery, of structure of texture. He offers no solutions: he poses new questions, by offering a different arrangement of associations. |
