Object Name Sculpture
Description Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Huntington studied in New York with the famous sculptor Gutzon Borglum, who sculpted Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. She was a pioneer in the use of aluminum as a sculpture medium: "I started to use aluminum for my animal pieces back in the early thirties, as the somber effect of bronze never seemed satisfactory. I asked the Roman Bronze Works to experiment with an aluminum casting for me and it proved most satisfactory, giving brilliance of surface that showed fine modeling in even poor light and I have used it ever since whenever possible."
